Volunteer & Service and Humanities Experience Camp

I really like to do volunteer in my free time, because I believe that helping and serving other people is the purpose of our life. I have joined many volunteering activities such as teaching children who live in a poor and faraway village (see Fig. 1) and repairing bicycles for students on campus. I also went to the Service and Humanities Experience Camp hold by Service Science Society of Taiwan in 2013 (see Fig. 2). There I realized that the application of science, management, and engineering can provide value for others. Through serving others, we can get a chance to give back and make a difference. For example, we can employ the knowledge of Educational Robotics, Human-Robot Interaction, and Multimedia and Creative Technologies to teach those children and help them learn. And that's what I want to do in next several years.

Volunteer of Humanistic Education Foundation Summer Camp

I participated in Humanistic Education Foundation Summer Camp and volunteered as a teacher and staff in 2005 to 2008. My job was to design teaching plans for primary school children. We helped them learn how to get along with other children and taught them how to build up a real house or how act in a play. We had a lot of fun and learned a lot from each other.

Student Association of Mechanical Engineering Department of National Taiwan University

In 2007, I joined the Student Association of NTUME. We held many activities such as Volunteer of Bicycle Repair and Maintenance on campus, Singing Contest, School Sports Day, dancing party, and graduation ceremony. I’ve learned a lot from these activities and improved my teamwork and social skills. (see Fig. 1-6)

Basketball Team of Mechanical Engineering Department of National Taiwan University

Aside from work and research, I really like to play basketball in my free time. So, I joined the Basketball Team of Mechanical Engineering Department of National Taiwan University. We practiced every week, talked about NBA players together, and became really good friends. In 2007, our basketball team finally got our own championship of National Taiwan University.

Bicycle Tour around Taiwan 2006

In 2006, my friends and I completed our bicycle tour around Taiwan Island. We spent 10 hours per day riding on the country roads in Taiwan, and finally we achieved a 1234-km cycling trip in 13 days. That's really an amazing memory we have.
